Homework
Each Monday/Tuesday if a holiday, children will have a homework booklet.  This booklet will contain activities relating to spelling, reading and math.  The booklet is to be returned to school on Friday.  For the majority of the school year, this will be the only written homework sent home during the week.  Occasionally there may be times when extra homework will be sent home.  ALWAYS CHECK HOMEWORK AGENDA.
Children are expected to read each evening.  Weekend homework is reading only.  A more detailed explanation of the reading program is outlined below.
Please sign their Reading Logs nightly.
Use the agenda to communicate any personal messages concerning your child.

Reading homework comes in the form of a Mom or Dad Book and a  Nightly Book.
Mom or Dad Books are linked to our theme of the month.  We will be exchanging this book on a daily basis within the classroom.  This book will go home to be a shared reading experience with the family.
Nightly Books are assigned according to reading level.  The children will have this book for one week.  This book will be sent home in a ziploc bag.  Inside of the bag, there will be an exercise book (Response Journal) with a list of activities.  The children are to complete ONE activity PER BOOK in their exercise book.  There is a detailed explanation included in the exercise book.  The children will exchange the nightly book on their scheduled reading day.  A chart will be sent home outlining each child’s specific day.
