The Music Program at St. Francis consists of the following groups:
Festival Choir
Songsters
Senior Band
Junior Band
The Festival Choir consists of students from grades 6 to 9 and currently has 160 members. Any student who wants to join choir is given the opportunity. We perform at various events during the year, including school assemblies, celebrations, concerts and the Rotary Music Festival in St. John's. We practice on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during sustained silent reading periods..
The St. Francis Songsters is an enrichment choir of 25 students from grades 7 - 9. We also perform at various school functions, concerts and Kiwanis Music Festival. We practice on Wednesdays after school and lunchtime on Thursdays and Fridays.
The Senior Band consists of students from grade 6 - 9 and has 26 members. The instruments included in the band are: flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, baritones, bass guitars and various percussion instruments. We play anything from classical to Rock and Roll music. We also perform at various school functions, concerts, as well as the Kiwanis Music Festival. We have sectional practices at lunchtime on Mondays and Tuesdays and full rehearsals during one period in a 7-day cycle.
The Junior Band consists of students from grades 6 and 7. This band includes the same instrumentation as the Senior Band. When they are ready, the players can move up to Senior Band. We practice Wednesdays at lunch time and one period in a 7-day schedule.
