Sony Acid Express Project #1
Create your own musical composition in Sony Acid Express.
If Acid Express is not on your computer (it is already on most of them) these are the instructions for installing it:
On the desktop, open the Student Shared Folder. Look for Acid Express Install. Doublle Click. Follow the instructions on screen for installation. At one point there will be an option to show the icon on desktop. Select it. The program should now be on
your desktop. Open it. It will ask you to register online. You do not need to fill out all the information. Just put one letter in each space. Do not choose Canada or the U.S.! Put in any email address as long as it has @ in it and .com.
To find the loops, in the bottom windows find the student$(M) drive. Look for Loops 2010 and you should be good to go.
You must use at least 6 tracks. Be creative! Use the whole class to make an exciting and interesting piece of music.
The title of your piece must be your name.
Save it to the student drive (M), Follett Grade 8 Music, Music 8-?
The purpose of today's lesson is to get familiar with how to use the basic functions of jamstudio.com.
Step 1
When the website loads it will take you through a quick tutorial that shows you the basics of how to enter chords, select instruments and how to play your creation. You can repeat this tutorial if you need to see it again.
Step 2
Once you are comfortable entering chords, selecting instruments, layering instruments (having multiple instruments play at the same time) and changing their styles , you are ready to search for the chords to your favourite song and input them into Jamstudio. Do a Google search for the song name and chords.

Music Theory Lesson and Practice
Hit the drop down menu for lessons.
Select The Staff, Clefs, and Ledger lines.
Hit the arrow in the bottom right corner until you complete the lesson.
Repeat the lesson if necessary. When you are comfortable, move on to the Note Trainer in the trainer drop down menu on the first page.
*****Go to settings and make sure that the treble and bass clefs are selected!!!!!
Toggle on the helpers if necessary while you practice but be sure to turn them off when you do your 50 examples.
Do 50 examples and check your score. If you like your score call me over so I can verify that you have successfully completed the lesson.
Repeat the above but this time, do the Key Signature lesson and the Key Trainer. Make sure that you select all of the key signatures under settings. They should all be in yellow.
