Mobile Central High School is located on the scenic Southern Shore of the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland. The school has 285 students from grades 7 to 12. The total population of the area served by the school is approximately 3500, spread out in the two larger communities of Bay Bulls and Witless Bay, and in five smaller communities Mobile, Tors Cove, Burnt Cove, St. Michael's and Bauline. Mobile High School is under the jurisdiction of the Eastern School District which has a combined student population of approximately 45,000.
At Mobile High School we have shifted the emphasis from teaching to learning. Our teachers are advocates for change who daily fulfill a collective responsibility to ensure that learning takes place for all students. Each of our teachers demonstrate a compelling drive to improve students’ outcomes, ensure they learn to the best of their abilities, and help them become confident, capable and productive individuals, prepared to pursue their goals and contribute to society. They are also teachers who respond when children do not learn in order that failure does not become entrenched. Mobile High School offers an outstanding educational program. In most every evaluation measure Mobile students exceed the district and the province in each assessment area. This is due in no small measure to the tremendous
contribution of our teaching and support staff.
