School Goals Under Our School Development Plan

.~~~~~~To facilitate the decision by the Department of Education to construct a new facility for Mobile High School. The construction of a new school will meet many of the identified needs of our school. ~Programming without adequate facilities has been a challenge which we hope will be rectified in a new school.

.~~~~~~To design an instrument whereby students can comment on their educational experience in each of their classes.

.~~~~~~To implement a Nutrition Policy by removing all unhealthy foodstuffs from the canteen and removing all soft drinks from the dispenser machines.

.~~~~~~To move the school onto the School Development Model

.~~~~~~To develop a Partnership with a larger corporation in order to gain additional financial and human resources assistance.

.~~~~~~To enhance our Awards Night & Graduation Ceremony to include scholarships at both the Intermediate and Senior High level.

.~~~~~~To continue our work on the “Getting to Fifty” initiative and track academic success rates.

.~~~~~~Under the auspicies of our safe and caring schools initiative to include presentations to students on bullying, smoking, drugs/alcohol, relationships. ~These were the four areas identified by students in a needs assessment.

.~~~~~~To continue our sessions with students on the 7 Habits of Effective Teens.

.~~~~~To introduce a Harrassment Policy in conjunction with the School Discipline Plan.

11.  ~~Continue Project Succeed- Mobile High School offers Project Succeed which is a twenty-day academic intervention program that is offered during the months of June and~July. Our experience with this program has found consistent value in tutorial based programs designed to assist under performing students catch up to their higher performing classmates through the use of additional time on task. ~Students participating in Project Succeed have generally been found to learn faster, to enjoy classes more, and to develop positive attitudes toward the subject matter being taught and learning in general.
